Jesus, the Transformer
The Bible facts tell us the Gospels of Mark and John initiate Jesus' public life with the
wedding of Cana, where Jesus transforms the substance of water into the substance of wine. And in fact, the
Gospels track Our Lord's transformation of stormy seas into a calm, crippled people into healthy ones, His
crucifixion into a gift, Bread and Wine into His Body and Blood, sinners into Saints, and ultimately our
deaths are transformed into life.
At the Wedding of Cana, Our Blessed Mother presents a real life problem to Our Lord, without
suggesting a solution. His transformation of the water solves that problem beyond any expectation. At
the Last Supper, and at each Mass, Jesus addresses his coming absence, beyond anyone's expectation, with the gift
of the Eucharist.
Addressing our problems to Our Lady, permits Our Lord to provide a solution that is far beyond
our ability to expect.
